The date for the 2014 edition of the Rutland – Melton CiCLE Classic has now been confirmed by the Union Cycliste Internationale as
Sunday 27th April. The event will continue to be listed currently as a UCI 1.2 category race.
The 2013 edition saw Britain’s Ian Wilkinson, Team UK Youth become the first rider to win the race twice.
In 2014 the event will see its tenth edition and to mark this fact a full Junior Men’s edition of the CiCLE Classic is to be introduced.
The new race, which will be held on the same date as the Classic will cover an entirely different route to that of the International race
but to mimic the character of its international namesake will feature off road sectors within its 92 kilometre distance.
Full details will be published at a later date, but plans include the new race starting in the town centre of Oakham prior to the Classic
and finishing at the same point in advance of the return passage to the town by the international competitors.
A formal request has been made to British Cycling for the event to be included in its National Junior Road Series for 2014.
